Citizen Service Number /tax and social security number

On 26 November 2007 the Citizen Service Number (BSN) was introduced. In many case, the tax and social security number is due to be replaced by the citizen service number. The citizen service number consists of the same digits at the tax and social security number.

You are registered in a municipality in the Netherlands.

If you are registered in a municipality in the Netherlands on 26 November 2007, it will not be necessary for you to take any action yourself. Your tax and social security number will be automatically converted into your citizen service number. You only have to use the digits of your tax and social security number as citizen service number.

You are not registered in a municipality in the Netherlands.

Are not registered in a municipality in the Netherlands and you have no citizen service number? Do you pay tax in the Netherlands? In this case, you will still be using the tax and social security number. If you have no tax and social security number, please, apply for it.
