Tax credit for parental leave

If you take parental leave then you may be entitled to parental leave credit. You must meet the condition that you have received a parental leave statement from your employer.

The parental leave credit is equal to the number of hours you took for parental leave in 2009, multiplied by € 3.99. The maximum amount of parental leave credit is the amount of your taxable wages in 2008 less your taxable wages in 2009.

Did your parental leave begin before 2009? Then you calculate the maximum parental leave credit by deducting your taxable wage in 2009 from your taxable wage in the year before the year in which you began to take parental leave.

Example

Did your parental leave begin in 2008? Then your maximum parental leave credit is: your taxable wages in 2007 less your taxable wages in 2009.
