Procedure for exporting goods
You must file an export declaration for community goods leaving the customs territory of the European Union.
Who is filing the export declaration?
The export declaration must be filed by the exporter.
Location of the declaration
You must file the declaration at an authorised customs office.
Presentation of the goods
Customs may not take your export declaration into considaration until you have 'presented' the goods at the customs office of export and completed the declaration.
Customs office of export
The customs office where you present the goods for export and where you file the declaration is called the 'customs office of export'.
Customs office of exit
Goods that have been released for the export procedure must be presented to the customs office of exit by the interested party.
Proof of export
The customs office of exit records the actual departure of the goods from the EU.
Outstanding ECS shipments
Customs checks at two points in ECS whether the exit has been registered: after 30 and after 125 days.
