Bringing money across the border
Are you taking € 10,000 or more over the border in currency and/or monetary instruments (cash)? If so you must declare it to Customs. It makes no difference which country you are arriving from or travelling to.
What are liquid assets?
Liquid assets include items such as banknotes or coins. Read which other assets are considered to be liquid assets.
Filing a declaration of liquid assets
If you travel across the border with money and valuables (liquid assets) worth € 10,000 or more, you may have to make a declaration.
When should a declaration be filed?
Are you entering or leaving the EU with € 10,000 or more in liquid assets? In that case, you are required to file a declaration with Dutch Customs.
When should a declaration not be filed?
You are not always required to file a declaration with Dutch Customs for liquid assets.
