Declaration without the intervention of a shipping agent/ship broker

The passengers and crew of vessels can declare liquid assets without the intervention of a shipping agent/ship broker (Please use the Cash declaration form). The declaration is filed by submitting the declaration form for liquid assets to a declaration point.

Declaration with the intervention of a shipping agent/ship broker

The passengers and crew of vessels can declare liquid assets through the intervention of a shipping agent (Please use the Cash declaration form). Shipping agents can also file the declaration themselves if (on the instructions of the captain) they take liquid assets on board or ashore.

Shipping agents can email or fax the declaration form for liquid assets to the declaration point before the liquid assets are taken on board or leave the vessel. If they file the declaration themselves, they can do so in the company name. The persons actually taking the liquid assets on board or ashore must be able to demonstrate in the event of an audit that they are acting on the instructions of the shipping agent.
