Corona: release for consumption of tobacco products with old seal extended
Tobacco products with an old excise seal may be released for consumption until 1 July 2021. The original deadline of 1 April 2021 is being extended in response to the corona crisis.
The new excise seal was introduced on 1 January 2021. Tobacco manufacturers and importers were still authorised to release their products with the old excise seal for consumption until 31 March 2021. However, sales have slowed down because tobacco shops have been closed since December of last year due to the corona measures.
Extension of the release period until the old seal is used up
To make it possible to use up stocks with old excise seals, the release for consumption of products with the old seals has been extended by 3 months: from 1 April 2021 to 1 July 2021. The correct tariff code must be stated on this excise seal.
Prices on old excise seals remain valid
The retail prices of cigarettes, smoking tobacco and cigars remain unchanged for the retail trade. The tobacco product must be sold at the price shown on the excise seal.
