Applying for login details to file VAT returns through the old portal

Nearly all entrepreneurs are currently able to log in to Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk to file their VAT return. However, there are entrepreneurs who do not qualify to register with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK). As a result, they cannot apply for eHerkenning and are unable to use Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk. These entrepreneurs can continue to use the old entrepreneurs' portal to file their VAT return. To do so, login details are required, which you can apply for.

Please note!

The provision of login details and access to the old portal is exclusively for:

  • entrepreneurs who do not qualify for KVK registration and cannot apply for eHerkenning because of this
  • entrepreneurs who cannot use DigiD as a login to Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk

Only entrepreneurs running a sole proprietorship and self-employed professionals can use DigiD.

Applying for login details for the old entrepreneurs' portal

You can apply for a username and password to access the old portal using an online form (only available in Dutch):

Old portal login details request

Apply for your login details on time

Please note the following:

  • You will receive the login details by post within 10 working days of your application.
  • You will receive 2 different letters: one with your username and one with a password you can use to log in the 1st time.
  • We send these letters separately to your company's business address.
  • These letters may be delivered on different days.
  • With international post it may take longer to receive both letters.

What you need to know about the old portal

  • With your username and password, you can only log in to the old entrepreneurs' portal. You cannot use these login details for Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk.
  • Please activate your login details as soon as possible after you receive them. You cannot log in to the old portal until you have activated your username and password.
  • After the 1st login, you need to change your password.
  • The old entrepreneurs' portal will remain available until all entrepreneurs can switch to the new portal Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk. Read more on switching portals for your VAT return.

Choose how to file your VAT return

  • You file your VAT return yourself on belastingdienst.nl through the old portal. To do so, you can apply for login details from us.
  • You file your VAT return yourself, using accounting software you have purchased.
  • Your tax service provider files the VAT return on your behalf.

You can, of course, choose to file VAT returns in a different way at any time.

What to do if you have not received login details following your application

The online form allows you to apply for login details for 1st use only. If you have not received login details after your 1st request or if you have lost them, you cannot use this form to apply for new login details.

Choose your situation:

Make sure to file your return on time

  • You must always file a VAT return, even if you have nothing to declare over the time period for which you must file a return.
  • You will find the due dates for filing your VAT return and for payment in the overview with filing and payment dates.
  • In the letter 'Vaststelling belastingplicht' (tax liability assessment) you will find for which time period you must file a return. This can be monthly, quarterly or annually.
  • Have you not received the login details on time, or have you lost them? Then choose another way to file your tax return. For example, through a tax service provider, also on a one-off basis if necessary.
