How do I log in to file a tax return as a non-resident taxpayer?

You can log in with your DigiD or a user name and password issued by the Tax and Customs Administration. If you live in another European country, you can, in some situations, also log in with an EU-approved login key.

Please note!

As of 1 July 2023, you can no longer log in with a user name and password issued by the Tax and Customs Administration.

DigiD gives you access to Mijn Belastingdienst. Via Mijn Belastingdienst, you can not only file your tax return, but also view returns and assessments and update your bank account number. DigiD gives you access to personal platforms of other Dutch governmental organisations as well. In some cases, you can also log in with an EU-approved login key. With a user name and password issued by the Tax and Customs Administration, you can only file an income tax return.

You can no longer apply for a user name and password

You can no longer apply for a user name and password from the Tax and Customs Administration. If you have already received a user name and password from us, you can continue to use these until 1 July 2023. After that, you will only be able to log in with your DigiD or a national login tool of the European country you live in.

Applying for DigiD

Do you receive a state pension while living abroad? In that case you can also apply for a DigiD at the Dutch Social Insurance Bank (SVB). This is easier than visiting a service desk, as the activation code will be sent to your home address.

Using an EU-approved login key

If you live in another European country, you may be able to log in to the Tax and Customs Administration using an EU-approved login key. With an EU-approved login key, European companies and citizens can conduct their business online with public authorities across national borders.
