I would like to change or add something to my customs authorisation – how can I do so?

It's very simple. You fill in the application form for the authorisation again. Except in the case of an authorisation that is valid in more than one Member State - known as a single authorisation. You can change this as of 1 May 2019 in the EU Trader Portal.

Modifying an authorisation using the application form

Here's how:

  1. Fill in your data for the applicant's data.
  2. In 'Type of application', indicate that it concerns a change.
  3. Now only answer the questions which pertain to the changed data or the data you wish to add.
  4. Sign the application and send it to us.

Changing an authorisation in the EU portals

Do you have a single authorisation? You can change this in the EU Trader Portal. Unless you are a sole proprietor or if your company has its head office outside the customs territory of the Union. In that case, use the application form.

Do you have an AEO authorisation? You can modify this from 2020 onwards in the EU Customs Trader Portal.

Check whether you also need to change your other authorisations

An amendment to one authorisation can have an impact on other ones. For example, if you now need to provide a different amount of security. You will then also need to adjust your 'Authorisation for Comprehensive Guarantee'.
