You receive a Citizen Service Number (burgerservicenummer, BSN) when you move to the Netherlands and register in a Dutch municipality.
If you do not live in the Netherlands or stay in the Netherlands for less than 4 months per year, you can apply for a BSN at a municipality with a Non-residents Registration (RNI) desk. You can find more information about the RNI desks on netherlandsworldwide.nl.
In some cases, you can use the form ‘Application Citizen Service Number (BSN)’ to apply for a Citizen Service Number with us. With this form, you can apply for a BSN for yourself, your partner or your child. Question 1 shows the situations in which you can use this form to apply for a BSN.
