What are the BPM requirements for my campervan?

A campervan must meet all these interior requirements to get the special BPM rate for camper vans:

  • The inside space must fit a rectangular block of at least:
    • 170 cm high
    • 200 cm long
    • 90 cm wide
  • The inside space is the area behind the driver's and front passenger's seats, when these seats are pushed all the way back.
  • All facilities must be fixed inside the camper van (permanently installed).

The camper van must have:

  • At least 2 fixed seats
  • A table
    • The table or the way it's attached can be made so it is easy to remove
  • Sleeping space for at least 2 people
    • This sleeping space can be made from seats, but not from the driver's or passenger's seats
  • Permanent and lockable storage space
  • A fixed kitchen unit inside the camper van, with:
    • A work surface at least 60 cm high
    • Built-in water supply with a sink, tap, and drainage
    • The water supply may be removable
  • A fixed built-in cooking appliance

You must be able to use all the facilities inside the camper van in a normal way.

Height requirements

  • If the inside height of your camper van is more than 130 cm but less than 170 cm, it does not meet the minimum height requirement of 170 cm.
  • You can increase the height to 170 cm or more, for example by adding:
    • A fixed raised roof, or
    • A pop-up roof
  • The roof extension must be at least 100 cm long and 90 cm wide.
  • You can only add this extension if your camper van also meets all other interior requirements.
