What are the BPM requirements for my campervan?
A campervan must meet all these interior requirements to get the special BPM rate for camper vans:
- The inside space must fit a rectangular block of at least:
- 170 cm high
- 200 cm long
- 90 cm wide
- The inside space is the area behind the driver's and front passenger's seats, when these seats are pushed all the way back.
- All facilities must be fixed inside the camper van (permanently installed).
The camper van must have:
- At least 2 fixed seats
- A table
- The table or the way it's attached can be made so it is easy to remove
- Sleeping space for at least 2 people
- This sleeping space can be made from seats, but not from the driver's or passenger's seats
- Permanent and lockable storage space
- A fixed kitchen unit inside the camper van, with:
- A work surface at least 60 cm high
- Built-in water supply with a sink, tap, and drainage
- The water supply may be removable
- A fixed built-in cooking appliance
You must be able to use all the facilities inside the camper van in a normal way.
Height requirements
- If the inside height of your camper van is more than 130 cm but less than 170 cm, it does not meet the minimum height requirement of 170 cm.
- You can increase the height to 170 cm or more, for example by adding:
- A fixed raised roof, or
- A pop-up roof
- The roof extension must be at least 100 cm long and 90 cm wide.
- You can only add this extension if your camper van also meets all other interior requirements.
Special motor vehicle tax rate (bijzonder tarief motorrijtuigenbelasting)
A camper van is considered a special passenger car. You can apply for a special tax rate for camper vans.
