What is an EORI number?
This is an identification number. You need it when conducting cross-border business and have to deal with Customs, for example when filing customs declarations.
The EORI number allows for the more rapid exchange of data within the EU, raising efficiency both for Customs and for you.
Only for market operators
EORI numbers are awarded to legal entities, such as a limited company (BV), but also to natural persons operating a business, such as a sole proprietorship.
Branches do not get their own EORI number, but use the number of the head office.
When do you require an EORI number?
You require an EORI number when filing a customs declaration or applying for an authorisation. You also require an EORI number when having the customs declarations submitted on your behalf.
