Do I need to file a worldwide income return?

Only if we send you the 'Opgaaf wereldinkomen' form (Worldwide income return, Dutch only). We start sending these forms every year as of the end of April.

When you receive this form

We will send you the 'Opgaaf wereldinkomen' form if you or your partner lives outside the Netherlands and receives a benefit. Or if you or a family member lives outside the Netherlands and pays a treaty contribution to the Central Administration Office (CAK).

Do you receive a benefit? Or do you pay a treaty contribution?

This monthly amount is an advance.

We use your worldwide income to determine the final amount of your benefit and whether you have received the right amount each month.

The CAK uses your worldwide income to determine the final amount of the treaty contribution you have to pay and whether your benefits organisation (such as the Social Insurance Bank, the UWV, or your pension fund) has deducted the right amount from your benefit each month. For more information on the treaty contribution, please visit the CAK website.

Always submit the 'Opgaaf wereldinkomen' form

We use the information about your and your partner’s worldwide income to determine the final amount of your benefit or benefits. We also forward this information to the CAK. The CAK uses the information to determine the amount of your treaty contribution.

If you fail to submit a worldwide income return, we will determine your worldwide income. This may be to your disadvantage. You may also have to repay benefits.
