How do benefits work?
Do you live in the Netherlands and do you have health insurance, a rented house or children? In that case, you may be entitled to a contribution towards the costs. Such contribution is called a benefit. Read how it works.
I want to apply for a benefit
You can apply for a benefit using the Mijn toeslagen section, for which you require a DigiD. You can also call the Tax Information Line. They will be pleased to help you and book an appointment for you to apply for the benefit with assistance.
How is my benefit paid to me?
If you meet the conditions, we will pay the benefit to you every month. After the end of the year, you will receive the final calculation of your benefit.
I want to submit a change
Is there a change in your life? For example, a pay rise or a change in child day care? Please notify us of this change.
Can I get help?
Sometimes, it’s useful to have someone support you with your benefits, especially if you don’t know the Dutch language very well. Support is available in various ways and places.
I cannot pay back my benefit in 1 lump sum
If you have received too much benefit, then you must pay back this excess amount. A payment arrangement is often possible.
