Report a suspicious message (SMS or WhatsApp)

Have you received a suspicious SMS or WhatsApp message from someone claiming to be the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst)? It may be an attempt at phishing.

We never:

  • send payment requests via WhatsApp or SMS
  • ask for personal details in a message
  • threaten you with fines or urgent actions

Please note!

Do not click on any links. Do not reply to the message.

Take a screenshot of the message you received.

  3. Email the screenshot and details

You can email the screenshot and the details to: valse-email@belastingdienst.nl (Use this email address only for this purpose. Do not use it for tax-related questions.)

What happens after you report the message?
