How to change or give us your bank account number
How you change or give us a bank account number depends on the reason. In most cases, you can do this online.
When do we ask you to give us your bank account number?
We do this when we don't have your bank account number yet and you're due a refund from us. For example, when you receive a tax refund for the first time. In those situations, you will receive a letter from us asking you to give us your bank account number (again).
When do we ask you to give us your bank account number again?
We do this when, for example, we are not allowed to use the bank account number that we have. Or if we haven't deposited any payments, like a tax return, into your bank account for 36 months or longer. This way, we can be sure the money gets to the right person and is paid into the correct bank account.
We only check if a bank account number belongs to the correct person when we make a payment, not when you make a payment to us.
Please note!
Are you using the switching service (Overstapservice) of your new bank for your new bank account number? This does not automatically change the bank account number in our records. You still need to give us the new bank account number yourself.
How do you change or give us your bank account number?
Do you need to change or give us your bank account number for benefits (toeslagen)? Go to 'Benefits' to see how you can do this.
Do you need to change or give us your bank account number for a tax? Then check under that tax. If the tax is not listed, you can find the information under 'Other taxes'.
Do you need to give us a bank account number because you're expecting a return for a deceased person? You can find the information under 'Bank account number of a deceased person'.
Are you an entrepreneur, do you have a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) or do you represent a legal entity (rechtspersoon)? In these cases, the new bank account number does not have to be a business bank account.
