How to change a bank account number
Do you hold a bank account number outside of the Netherlands?
Submitting or changing a foreign bank account numberHow to submit or change a bank account number depends on the purpose.
In most cases, you can do this online.
Please note!
If you have a new bank account number and if you use your bank's Account Switch Service, do not forget to inform us that you changed your bank account number. We do not automatically update our records.
- Benefits (toeslagen)
Change your bank account number as follows:- Log in to Mijn toeslagen with your DigiD.
- Go to the 'Mijn huishouden' tab.
There you will see the bank account number currently known to us. - Select 'Wijzig' to change your bank account number.
We will only pay out a benefit if the benefit is in your name. The payment account (not a savings account) on which we pay must also be in your name. Only you can change this bank account number. Your benefits partner cannot.

Processing your bank account number takes time. If you want us to immediately stop payments to another bank account number, make sure to inform us not to use your old bank account number when passing on your new bank account number.
We automatically also use the bank account number you provide for your income tax and contributions under the Health Insurance Act (Zorgverzekeringswet, Zvw). - Income tax and healthcare insurance contributions
Submit your bank account number as follows:- Log in to Mijn Belastingdienst with your DigiD.
- Select 'Mijn gegevens'.
- Under 'Rekeningnummer', select 'Mijn rekeningnummer doorgeven of wijzigen’.
- Complete the questions.
The bank account number you submit must be in your name. And it can only be a payment account number, not a savings account number. - Click on 'Akkoord'.

Processing your bank account number takes time. If you want us to immediately stop payments to another bank account number, make sure to inform us not to use your old bank account number when passing on your new bank account number.
We automatically use the bank account number you submit also for your benefits. - Motor vehicle tax (motorrijtuigenbelasting)
Direct debit collection
Want to change the bank account number of your direct debit (automatische incasso)? Call the Tax Information Line Cars. There you can apply for a direct debit authorisation form for your new bank account number. Fill in the form and send it to us. As soon as we have processed it, you will receive confirmation that your new authorisation has been registered.
It takes about 3 weeks for your direct debit to be processed. It is therefore possible that we will collect the required amount from your old bank account number again.
Giro collection form
If you would like to change your bank account number for refunds or payment of motor vehicle tax by giro collection form (acceptgiro) it matters whether you are a private individual or an entrepreneur.
If you are you a private individual, submit your bank account number as follows:
- Download the 'Opgaaf rekeningnummer particulieren' form (only available in Dutch).
- Complete the questions, print the form and send it to us.

Self-employed persons (zzp’er) or sole proprietors (eenmanszaak), can go to Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk and log in with their DigiD.
Legal entities (rechtspersonen) can log in to Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk with eHerkenning. This also applies to non-legal entities, such as a general partnership (vennootschap onder firma, vof), limited partnership (commanditaire vennootschap, cv) and a professional partnership (maatschap). Go to Zo werkt eHerkenning (only available in Dutch) for more information.
- Download the 'Opgeven of wijzigen rekeningnummer ondernemers' form (only available in Dutch) in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk.
- Complete the questions.
- Click on 'Akkoord'.
- Submit your request.

Entrepreneurs who still have login details for the old entrepreneurs’ portal (only available in Dutch) can submit a new bank account number as follows:
- Go to the ‘Oude portaal voor ondernemers’ and log in.
- Go to 'Overige formulieren' and choose the 'Wijzigen rekeningnummer ondernemers' form.
- Complete the questions.

You will receive a confirmation letter within 3 weeks stating that we have processed your bank account number.
- VAT (turnover tax)
If you are self-employed or have a sole proprietorship, submit your bank account number as follows:- Go to Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk and log in with your DigiD.
- Go to the 'Mijn gegevens' tab.
- Open the form 'Opgeven of wijzigen rekeningnummer ondernemers'.
- Complete the questions.
- Click on 'Akkoord'.

Include the following: your IBAN (this must be a transaction or everyday bank account – not a savings account – held in the Netherlands); your Rechtspersonen en Samenwerkingsverbanden Informatienummer, RSIN; the tax rebate or declaration reference for which you are submitting the bank account number; your name, address and telephone number. an extract or proof of deregistration from the Chamber of Commerce (Kamer van Koophandel, KVK); and a copy of a bank statement (with the name clearly visible and not older than 2 months).
