You are a conscientious objector - are you entitled to healthcare benefit?
Do you refuse to insure yourself against healthcare costs due to personal beliefs or for religious reasons? Then you are a conscientious objector (gemoedsbezwaarde). Because you do not pay premiums (zorgpremies) for a health insurance, you cannot get healthcare benefit (anymore).
Find out more about your rights and obligations as a conscientious objector on the website of the Sociale Verzekeringsbank (only available in Dutch).
Are you currently receiving healthcare benefit? Cancel it now.
Do you no longer have health insurance, but do you still get healthcare benefit? Cancel it as quickly as possible. This ensures that you do not have to pay back any extra benefits you get.
You can cancel your benefits in Mijn toeslagen (only available in Dutch). At 'Wijziging doorgeven' (Report Changes), select 'Toeslag stoppen' (Cancel Benefit) and then 'Zorgtoeslag' (Healthcare Benefit).
Your partner is not a conscientious objector – can they still get healthcare benefit?
Yes, they can. However, they must have health insurance. Your partner will get half of the total benefit you would normally get together.
Were you a conscientious objector, but not anymore?
In that case, you can take out health insurance and apply for healthcare benefit as normal. You don’t have to arrange anything with us.
