Your assets may not be too high for healthcare benefit

To get healthcare benefit, your assets (vermogen) may not be too high. If you have a benefits partner, their assets also count.

Examples of assets include savings (spaargeld) and stocks (aandelen). You can read more about what counts as assets at Hoeveel vermogen mag ik hebben als ik toeslag krijg? (How much assets am I allowed to have if I receive benefits, only available in Dutch).

Maximum assets for healthcare benefit per year

Year Maximum assets without benefits partner Maximum assets with benefits partner
2025 €141,896 €179,429
2024 €140,213 €177,301
2023 €127,582 €161,329
2022 €120,020 €151,767
2021 €118,479 €149,819

Your assets are too high

If your assets (vermogen) are too high on 1 January, you are no longer entitled to healthcare benefit for the whole year. Are your assets not too high on January, but they do become too high later in the year? In that case, you can still get healthcare benefit that year, but this may not be the case next year.

Do you receive healthcare benefit? Find out what you should do at Ik wil mijn zorgtoeslag stoppen - hoe doe ik dat? (I want to cancel my healthcare benefit – how do I do that?) (only available in Dutch).

You have a benefits partner for part of the year

In that case, you do not need to include your partner’s assets.

Do children’s assets count?

If your child is younger than 18 years, their assets count towards your assets. If your children are 18 years or older, their assets do not count for your healthcare benefit.
